Google Local Search Optimisation
By Jon | July 27, 2008
Optimising websites for local searches is not for everyone but statistics have shown that although generic phrases generate a lot of impressions, they tend to convert impressions to clicks very poorly. So if you can optimise your website for local search I would.
Most of the time optimising for local phrases will not hinder the overall listing. For example I am on page 1 for “SEO services Manchester” (I’m actually there twice, once for Google Local and once in the natural listings). I am also on page one for “SEO Services” which is nice but I generate more business from the phrase “SEO services Manchester”.
If you do not want to optimise your website for local listings we recommend add words also there is a company called matchmaker marketing that guarantee page 1 listings for 5 local phrases and your company name for £99 per month. They say that this is guaranteed listings on page 1 Google every day - Matchmaker
